Cursillo Movement at 4620 4th Street, Lubbock, TX 79416 US - Our Organization's History

Our Organization's History

Cursillo - A short course in Christianity Founders - Father Juan Capo and Eduardo Bonin from Spain, began the Cursillo Movement around 1948, but the whole Movement can be traced back to St. Paul, as the first Cursillista; and the first Cursillo in the U S was in 1957 given by Father Gabriel Fernandez and airmen Bernado Vadell and Augustin Palomino. All Cursillos had been in Spanish until 1961 when the first English Cursillo was given in Texas. Today in the Diocese of Lubbock, Bishop Placido Rodriguez and The Spiritual Director for the Cursillo Movement in the Diocese of Lubbock, have led the Movement into a new generation, in which more Cursillos are given in both Spanish and English throughout the course of the year. In our Diocese, as of right now, I know that we are the only ones that have a Jornada (an enhancement of spiritual growth or renewal and lived after you have lived your Cursillo). We have a great Cursillo Movement in the Diocese, thanks to God, for all of the graces He has blessed us with in our lives.  From the time we bagan, to the present, God has worked miracles in the Diocese of Lubbock, through the Cursillo Movement and through all of the Cursillistas. De Colores!
